Frequently Asked Questions

About Mega Restore

What is in Mega Restore?

Each daily capsule contains 200 mg of CoQ10 as ubiquinol, 125 mcg (5,000 IU) of vitamin D3 as cholecalciferol, and 300 mcg of vitamin K2 as menaquinone-7 (MK-7). There are no proprietary blends. Review the full Supplement Facts panel and ingredient list on the product page before use.

What does Mega Restore do?

Mega Restore helps replenish CoQ10 that can be depleted by age and by certain drugs such as statins; supports heart and cellular energy; provides antioxidant support; supports bone health by helping keep calcium in bones; and supports immune health and vitality.* These are the statements on the bottle, and we explain the research behind each one in the evidence section of the product page. *These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Why is one bottle 90 capsules instead of 30?

Because the suggested use is one capsule a day, so 90 capsules is 90 days. Most supplement bottles hold a month's supply and need reordering twelve times a year. A quarterly bottle means four decisions a year instead of twelve, and a whole lot less trash.

When should I take it, and does it matter?

One capsule once daily in the morning, with or without a meal, or as recommended by a qualified healthcare professional. We suggest morning rather than bedtime because some people find CoQ10 mildly activating.

Why ubiquinol instead of the more common form of CoQ10?

CoQ10 comes in two forms. The common one, ubiquinone, has to be changed by your body before it can be used. Ubiquinol is the form your body can use right away, and it is the form found in your blood. In a published comparison at our 200 mg dose, four weeks of ubiquinol raised blood CoQ10 more than four weeks of ubiquinone in the same people. That study was small, and at least one other trial in older adults found the difference was not statistically significant. We think it is the better choice; we are not going to pretend the literature is unanimous. See our research page for the citations.

Why MK-7 rather than MK-4 for vitamin K2?

MK-7 has a half-life in the blood of roughly three days, compared with about an hour for MK-4, which means it builds to a steady level with once-daily dosing rather than peaking and clearing within the same day.

Is 5,000 IU of vitamin D too much?

It is a deliberate, higher-end dose, and you should know the context. The National Academy of Medicine sets a tolerable upper intake level of 4,000 IU per day for adults, so 5,000 IU sits above it. Doses in this range have a long track record of use, and toxicity is associated with far higher intakes over long periods, but 5,000 IU is a dose that deserves a conversation with your clinician and periodic blood testing rather than a shrug. If you already take a separate vitamin D supplement or a multivitamin containing vitamin D, do not stack them.

Can I take this with my multivitamin?

Usually, but check the vitamin D. Many multivitamins contain 1,000 to 2,000 IU of D3, and you do not want to add that to 5,000 IU without knowing. CoQ10 and K2 are not typically present in a multivitamin at meaningful doses.

How long before I notice anything?

This is a foundational supplement, not something you feel in a week. Blood levels of CoQ10 rise over roughly two to four weeks; MK-7 builds to a steady level over about two weeks; vitamin D status shifts over two to three months. Some people report a difference in everyday energy in the first month and some notice nothing at all.

Safety and medications

Can I take Mega Restore if I use medication?

Talk with your pharmacist or clinician before starting any new supplement. This is particularly important if you take anticoagulants such as warfarin, use other vitamin D products, are pregnant or nursing, have kidney disease, hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis, or a history of kidney stones, or have any medical condition. Do not start, stop, or change prescribed medication based on this website.

Can I take this with a blood thinner?

Do not make this decision based on a website. Vitamin K directly affects how vitamin K antagonist medications (warfarin, acenocoumarol, phenprocoumon) work, and CoQ10 can also be relevant to anticoagulant therapy. Speak with the clinician who manages your medications before use.

I use a statin. What should I know?

If you use a statin or any prescription medication, speak with your pharmacist or clinician before adding a dietary supplement. For context: a 2015 systematic review and meta-analysis of placebo-controlled trials reported a reduction in plasma CoQ10 concentrations following statin therapy, and its authors stated that further well-designed trials were needed to clarify the clinical relevance. That research does not establish that Mega Restore restores a deficiency, treats or prevents medication side effects, relieves symptoms, or is appropriate for every person who uses a statin.

Does Mega Restore replace a prescribed medication?

No. Mega Restore is a dietary supplement and is not intended to replace prescribed medication, a balanced diet, or professional care.

Quality

Where is it made?

Mega Restore is manufactured in the United States, in an FDA-registered food facility in Boca Raton, Florida, under applicable current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) requirements. See our Quality & Traceability page for the full picture.

Is it tested?

Yes. Raw materials are quarantined and checked against their specifications before they are released for use, and each finished lot is reviewed and tested by the manufacturer's quality team before final release. A certificate of analysis is issued for each production lot. Email us with the lot number printed on your bottle and we will send you the COA for that lot.

Orders

Why would I subscribe?

Because this is something you are going to take every day anyway, and there is no good reason to think about reordering it. Quarterly: one bottle every 90 days at $79.99. Yearly: four bottles once a year at $249.96, $30 less than buying the same four bottles outright. It simply arrives, and you never run out.

Will I be surprised by a charge?

No. We email you seven days before every scheduled charge with the amount, the date, and a link to skip, pause, or cancel. If you do nothing, the order ships as scheduled.

How do I manage or cancel a subscription?

You can skip, pause, or cancel from your account page at any time, with no phone call. Changes made before your next scheduled billing date apply to that shipment. See our subscription policy.

Can I return it?

Because dietary supplements cannot be restocked or resold once they leave our control, all sales are final. If your bottle arrives damaged, with a broken seal, or otherwise defective, email us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and a photo and we will replace it at no charge. Orders that have not yet shipped can be cancelled and refunded in full. See our refund policy.
